When social change meets government collaboration, accountability becomes the bridge — and that bridge is called Darpan Registration.
Darpan Registration is a crucial process for Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and Voluntary Organisations (VOs) in India, enabling them to establish transparency and build trust with government institutions.
The NGO Darpan portal, launched in 2015, is managed by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This centralized, digital platform serves to:
- Promote organizational transparency
- Simplify access to government schemes and public funding
- Maintain a reliable national database of NGOs and VOs across India
- Registration Certificate ( Trust Deed/ Society Registration Certificate/Section 8 Company Incorporation Certificate)
- PAN Card of the NGO/VO
- Details of Office Bearers / Key Functionaries
- Organization Address Proof
- Functional Email ID and Mobile Number
- Visit the NGO Darpan Portal
- Create a Login
- Fill Organization Details
- Upload Required Documents
- Review and Submit
- Receive Darpan ID
The full form of DARPAN is Digital Advancement of Rural Post Office for A New India. It is a flagship project launched by India Post under the Ministry of Communications, aimed at digitizing rural post offices across the country.
Only NGOs registered in India are eligible to register on the Darpan portal.
Non-compliance or submission of incorrect information may lead to suspension or cancellation of the Darpan ID and may bar the NGO from accessing government schemes. Legal action may also be initiated as per government rules.
Registration only makes the NGO eligible to apply for schemes and grants. Sanctioning of funds is subject to evaluation and approval under specific government norms.
