DIN Reactivation

A Director Identification Number (DIN) is like a passport for company directors in India, issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to legally recognize their role. However, if a DIN becomes inactive or deactivated, it can disrupt a director’s ability to participate in company decisions, sign statutory forms, or comply with corporate laws. DIN Reactivation is the process of restoring an inactive DIN to active status, allowing the director to lawfully continue their responsibilities. Common reasons for deactivation include non-filing of DIR-3 KYC, director disqualification, or other compliance lapses. Without reactivation, a director cannot be appointed in new companies or continue existing directorships. The MCA prescribes specific procedures, forms, and fees for reactivation, often requiring overdue KYC filings or correction of discrepancies. At Aarthika Globcorp Solutions, we provide expert support for DIN Reactivation in India, ensuring timely compliance, smooth processing, and hassle-free restoration of director status.

  1. Identify the reason for DIN deactivation from the MCA portal.

  3. File DIR-3 KYC (for KYC non-filing cases) or relevant form if due to disqualification.
  4. Attach documents and digitally sign the form using DSC.

  6. Submit the form online on the MCA portal.
  7. MCA reviews the application and, if approved, restores DIN to Active

The DIN reactivation is done by filing Form DIR-3 KYC with the MCA along with the applicable late fee.

A disqualified director can reactivate their DIN only after the disqualification period has ended, by filing DIR-3 KYC and fulfilling all compliance requirements.

If DIN is deactivated due to resignation from all companies, it usually requires filing DIR-3 KYC and compliance fulfillment to reactivate it.

If the DIN is not reactivated, the director cannot hold or act as a director in any company, nor can they sign official documents or filings; the DIN remains inactive.

Yes, foreign directors holding DIN can also reactivate their DIN by filing DIR-3 KYC and following the prescribed procedures.

DIN reactivation involves restoring an inactive or deactivated DIN to active status, whereas DIN modification is updating or correcting personal details linked to an active DIN using forms like DIR-6.
