Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

In today’s fast-paced digital world, most business and government transactions take place online. Ensuring your data is secure, authentic, and tamper-proof is no longer optional—it’s essential. This is where a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) plays a vital role, acting as your trusted electronic seal of approval.

A digital signature is a modern encryption technology that verifies the identity of the sender and ensures that data remains unchanged during transmission. Unlike a handwritten signature, a DSC is far more secure, reliable, and legally valid under the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Digital signatures work through a unique pair of cryptographic keys—a private key known only to the signer and a public key used for verification. This process provides proof of origin, data integrity, and authentication, building confidence in every online transaction.

From filing Income Tax Returns, GST, and ROC compliance, to signing contracts, e-tenders, and government documents, a DSC ensures security and efficiency at every step.

At Aarthika Globcorp Solutions, we make it simple to apply for and obtain your DSC. With expert guidance, quick processing, and full compliance support, we help you secure your digital identity with ease and confidence.

Many high-security services like e-tendering, MCA filings, and GST registration require a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).

Class 3 DSC is the most reliable for Indian legal transactions because it offers the highest degree of authentication, including strict identity proofing (often in-person), high-end encryption, and tamper-evident technology that promotes document integrity and non-repudiation.

Certain industries in India predominantly use specific classes of DSCs based on compliance requirements, such as Government, public sector, banking and financial services, export/import sector, large enterprises, banks and financial institutions, and for Tax, GST, MCA, and legal filings.

DSCs are typically valid for 1 to 3 years, after which they must be renewed before expiry to maintain legal continuity. Renewal requires re-verification of identity and updated documentation. Expired DSCs are not legally valid for signing official documents.

Forging or misusing a DSC is a serious offense under the IPC and IT Act. It can lead to up to 7 years imprisonment and a fine (Section 468 IPC), or 3 years and ₹1 lakh fine for identity theft (Section 66C, IT Act). Using a falsified DSC as genuine also attracts strict penalties under Section 471 IPC. If used in public records or court documents, punishment can be even more severe, including life imprisonment in extreme cases.

Making a false electronic record or dishonestly affixing a DSC is considered forgery under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. This involves creating, altering, or using fake electronic documents with fraudulent intent, punishable by imprisonment, fines, or both, depending on the severity of the offense.
