In today’s financial world, having a Permanent Account Number (PAN) is not just a choice—it’s a legal necessity. Whether you’re an individual, business, freelancer, or foreign investor, PAN is your universal tax identity in India. It’s a 10-digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department that connects all your financial transactions under one roof. From opening a bank account, buying property, filing income tax returns, to receiving taxable payments, PAN ensures the government tracks and verifies your financial compliance. But did you know that even minors, NRIs, and foreign companies may be required to apply for PAN in certain cases? The process has become simpler—online application, e-KYC, and e-sign have reduced paperwork significantly.
